What'sInAName
I've had a pretty mixed week recently; going to one of my favourites clubs, celebrating pride with some of my favourite people and being back home with the family, on the other hand I've had my phone stolen and a very unfortunate fall. This all got me thinking about how everyone must have these weeks, and how things could be better or worse.
I then started reflecting on my obsession with cartoons, animation and comic books. My love of these three things is where I think my love of fashion comes from and also the way I like to overcome any little obstacles in life.
Cartoon episodes stay relatively consistent; the roster sometimes changes and sometimes the costumes change, but overall the only thing that majorly changes is the focus of the episode. I guess I want particular things to stay constant in my life. I want to be surrounded by good people, have a steady work and social life, and at the end of each challenge I want it to seem like life could go on without the problem happening. It's a very simple and whimsical way to see things, but sometimes it's needed. My mum always says sometimes you have to laugh when you feel like crying.
In relation to fashion, I've always been interested in how certain colours, textures and shapes can make you instantly think of a particular character, celebrity or person you know. I've always been a big X-Men fan, and yellow and blue outfits will always remind me of their 90's costumes.
In this post I hit up Carnaby Street wearing a Comme Des Garcons Shirt, Zara trousers and, monk shoes, socks and under-shirt all by Topman. This was the outfit I wore to celebrate my 20th at HUSH in Mayfair :).
