LONDON COLLECTIONS: MEN

London Collections: Men Autumn Winter 2016 ended yesterday after 4 days of runway shows and presentations around London. I was lucky enough to be invited back to write for online magazine Who's Jack for another season, covering some of my favourite designers' shows.

This season I felt more confident in my writing ability and knowledge of menswear so it's been a lot less stressful; I was also able to get time off work so I could cover the full season. It was also great to see the variation in street style between Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer; once again be surrounded by such impeccably dressed individuals has inspired me to be a bit more expressive in my style choices.

I got to go to a lot of big shows this season and a lot of them were more fun than before. Charles Jeffrey's section of the MAN show made me smile so much and I've already decided that I'm going to own everything in the Bobby Abley show.

The Moschino show was a highlight for me (only topped by the Bobby Abley show) and was the biggest show I went to. I really wanted to shoot some street style outside of the venue at One Mayfair, but it was way to dark to get any good shots with no flashgun.

I turned up to the Thom Sweeney presentation in Mayfair with a nose piercing, black nail polish and a kaleidoscope of colour, and totally forgot that the focus was tailoring; everyone was suited and booted and it was such a small space, being sandwiched between Dermot O'Leary and David Gandy in bespoke suits made me feel like a poor, badly dressed nobody haha.

I didn't attend the KTZ after party since I had an essay due in the morning after (which I had to write at the same time as uploading articles to Who's Jack and 'curating' my instagram - which you should be following haha). I did however attend the Decoded by Diesel campaign launch party which was great (check out some of the pics I snapped over on Hiskind) ; I brought two of my best friends and mingled with a bunch of fun club kids.

Looking forward to whatever London Fashion Week throws my way!

LC:M - William Stone

Designer William Stone presented his LC:M SS16 collection at the Century Club in London, showcasing his technical and creative versatility. With a combination of sharp tailoring and more vibrant, casual patterned looks, the collection was incredibly contemporary.

LC:M - Casely-Hayford SS16

Today I had the amazing opportunity of attending the Casely-Hayford SS16 show at London Collections: Men at the Old Sorting Office on New Oxford Street. The father and son team put on an amazing collection with a mix of tailoring, craftsmanship and sportier pieces that had the same luxurious feel.

With a playlist of heavy UK Grime, the show was definitely one of the most attention grabbing shows of the season.

Below are some of my favourite looks/what I could get a picture of (models move really fast!).

LCM14: PART 3

Bobby Abley stole the spotlight quite early in the LCM schedule for the Little Mermaid inspired sweatshirts (I've added this to the list of expensive clothes I want but can't afford). The overall look and feel of the collection was very young and easily wearable.

Kent Curwen's collection is quite a contrast to Bobby Abley's. Lots of coloured leather and monochrome looks, with the emphasis of being smart and well tailored. The mixture of quite light blues and whites, with dark indigos and blacks gave this collection the perfect balance for the stylish gentleman's wardrobe.

These looks were a bit more casual and 'adventurous' compared to the ones above. The mixture between materials in the all black look pictured above has to be my personal highlight.

LCM14: MOSCHINO

So I've just come back from a trip to Italy and remembered that I didn't publish all the LCM posts, so what better way start the end of the round-up than with Moschino

Wild and colourful patterns together with black and gold printed outfits, this collection screams Jeremy Scott but does so in a way that is separate to his own label and sets up the structure for the future of Moschino.

Personal highlight: The yellow tux jacket with a long tail paired with yellow trousers, the shape almost reminds me of a very classical Ferrari.

LCM14: PART 2

A. Sauvage SS15: vibrant colours, bright suits and the occasional bit of monochrome, the A. Sauvage collection is the definition of trend. Pops of orange in grey outfits. slim fitting and well structured clothing and eye-popping patterns. This was definitely a stand out show.

Astrid Andersen SS15: This might just be my favourite collection. The sunset inspired colours, the movement of the materials and the whole aesthetic. Pairing orange with black hints to two of next years big trends. The combination of samurai and streetwear inspiration speak directly to me (Clone Japan duh! haha). Everything about the collection was perfect, the choice of models, the styling. Looking forward to owning some of the Astrid Andersen x Topman collection even more after seeing this.

LCM14: Topman Design

LCM would be no fun without a Topman Design collection. It's always where people turn to see what the next trend will be, and this collection served no different.

The monochromatic look has been heavily featured during the LCM shows and TM Design is bang on the trend, with funky patterns and pops of colour. This shows the fun way to do monochrome.

Summery yellows paired with blacks tone down the loudness of the yellow (and also remind me of my house colours at secondary school haha). Perfect for those who aren't brave enough to rock bright yellows and standout oranges.

These looks were my favourite, the colours are cool and give off a 'chill' vibe, the patterns are fun and the variety in fits gives you a lot to play with.

Personal Highlight: the blue parka with the white fur, I will definitely be saving up for that!

LCM14: PART 1

So post on the LCM are coming at you a bit late, apparently looking for flats and other adult things take up a lot of time.

Joseph SS15 -this collection host the perfect mix of trends: monochromatic outfits alongside khaki colours and army inspired patterns and, summery oranges that aren't too bright and won't make everyone run away from you.

Christopher Raeburn SS15 - More oranges mixed with neutral colours; what stands out here is the mixture of materials of similar colours such as, the layering of different shades of grey. My personal favourites are the almost sheer jackets with the orange and grey underneath.

Christopher Kane SS15 - Christopher Kane's previews always make me so happy, and this collection has cemented the brand as one of my favourite. Everything is very well structured, the shape of the clothes and how the sleeves of the t-shirts stay in perfect place. We see more orange and monochrome, but also very bright spring colours like the lime green trousers above.

RETROSPECT: LCM AW14

As the start of the London Collections Men showcases draw nearer (since it's after exams I'm going to be posting about it a lot, you've been warned) I thought I'd go over my favourite looks of last years shows, in a couple of post. This post is dedicated to two of my five favourites from the AW14 season: Burberry Prorsum and Christopher Kane. Both showcase trends we'll be seeing the other side of this summer, but approach them in totally different ways.

CHRISTOPHER KANE:

Sweatshirts are now my favourite thing, and are becoming highlights of many collections (i.e. Kenzo, Givenchy and Calvin Klein). Above we see three variations which can already be seen in high street stores as they rushed to copy: bold patterns, neoprene accents and prints colours near the neckline.

This collection is one of my favourites because of the silhouettes of the coats. The one furthest left is my favourite, its very Rick Owen's, with the tied belt, but it is the material that makes it stand-out.

BURBERRY PRORSUM:

The background of this blog should give some hints to one of my current favourite fashion houses. Since the patterns of the SS12 show and the metallic colours of the SS13 (seriously need the purple trench someday) I have been obsessed with their collections. The AW14 is no different; it includes many of the autumn trends we'll see. As seen in other shows, scarves are looking to be the staple accessory to a man's outfit and the one's in this collection are so pretty (in a manly way). The colours are subtle and blend well with the rest of the outfit. My favourite is the outfit on the right of the above image; the colour of the scarf is the highlight, and its a lot less subtle than it is in the other looks.

The pattern we see on the left is so simple, yet still seems striking and is balanced well with the white under-shirt. In the middle look we see the trend of bold coloured overcoats (an extension of the coloured suits of spring/summer), which Burberry Prorsum have always done well. The 'giant-ass' scarf (more like a shawl) is also bang on trend and the mix of the earthy green and navy blue create a great pattern.
